Freedom One World Trade Center Tower
This just makes me wonder - how much longer are we going to be free if we can't even build and name a tower the "Freedom Tower"? It is ironic since we are abandoning freedom and headed for a one world government that they would be changing the name from "Freedom Tower" to "One World Trade Center"...

Africa’s Witch Children
You can’t help but be moved to tears by the human wreckage left in the wake of Pentecostalism’s sweep across Nigeria as children are starved, tortured, beaten, and killed because some “prophet” or “prophetess” labels them a witch. What is going on in these churches and with these so-called “pastor’s” makes my head explode and my heart break.
Stepping Stones (an organization helping these children) said the following on their website:
“Stepping Stones Nigeria does not wish to denounce any faith organisation. However the role of the church, especially some of the new Pentecostals, in spreading the belief in child witches cannot be underestimated. There are numerous so-called pastors in the region who are wrongly branding children as ‘witches’ mainly for economic self gain and personal recognition.”
This is a documentary that you must see, but be warned, it contains some graphic and disturbing images and material.
Here’s a news story and video about this crisis:

Quote of the day
"Holiness is nothing neither less nor more than radical, royal, reliable, remarkable romance with the Redeemer." – Wingrove Taylor
Daniel Hannan for President!
Oh wait, he lives in England and is a Member of the European Parliament…too bad! I just wish we had someone here in the USA who would be willing to stand up to our leaders and keep them on their toes…
A little background to this speech taken from Wikipedia:
On March 24, 2009, after Gordon Brown had given a short speech to the European Parliament in Strasbourg in advance of the G20 London summit, Hannan followed up by delivering a 3-minute speech criticising in very strong terms the response by Gordon Brown to the global financial crisis.
By the way, this post is not an endorsement for Daniel Hannan – I really don’t know what all he stands for, but at least on this issue he makes sense (compared to most politician's here in the USA). I say Daniel Hannan for President with tongue firmly in cheek obviously…

Today is Charles Cowman’s Birthday (1868)
Today is Charles Cowman’s birthday. Charles and his wife Lettie Cowman were famous missionaries and founders of the Oriental Missionary Society. They were members of God's Bible School's first student body in 1900.
I love this quote from Oswald Chambers about Charles Cowman, “The thing that strikes you about Charles Cowman, is not his holiness, but his absolutely reckless, careless, defiant abandonment to Jesus Christ.”

Fate vs. Free Will Throughout Church History
This is the beginning of a very interesting article from over at The Pristine Faith Restoration Society to continue reading click the link at the bottom of this post.
We stated in the introduction that Calvinism has its roots in the views of St. Augustine. This man was also largely responsible for the acceptance of a-millennialism into mainstream Christianity, and the Roman Catholic doctrine that the Catholic Church is now God's Kingdom on earth. Prior to his conversion in the fourth century, Augustine was heavily involved in a pseudo-Christian Gnostic cult that held heretical ideas regarding the nature of God as well as the person of Christ. All of the Gnostic cultists were heavily influenced by the writings of the Greek philosophers. And Augustine was no exception.
God's grace is given to all who submit willingly | Each man's destiny is predetermined | |
| I. First through Fourth Centuries | All Christian Writers | Gnostic Cults, Greek Philosophers, Pantheists, Buddhists |
| II. Fifth through Fourteenth Centuries | Most Christian Writers, Catholics, Orthodox | St. Augustine & some later Christian writers, Waldenses, Moslems, Buddhists |
| III. Fifteenth through Twentieth Centuries | Arminians, Wesleyans, most Baptists, Catholics (Jesuit), Orthodox | Calvinists (Reformed), Catholics (Dominican), Moslems, Buddhists |
Prior to the writings of Augustine, the Church universally held that mankind had a totally free will. Each man was responsible before God to accept the Gospel. His ultimate destiny, while fully dependent on God's grace and power, was also dependent on his free choice to submit to or reject God's grace and power. In the three centuries from the Apostles to Augustine the early Church held to NONE of the five points of Calvinism, not one. The writings of the orthodox Church, for the first three centuries, are in stark contrast to the ideas of Augustine and Calvin. Man is fully responsible for his choice to respond to or reject the Gospel. This was considered to be the Apostolic doctrine passed down through the local church elders ordained by the Apostles, and their successors. Below we have listed a few representative quotes from the earlier writers in order to give the flavor of the earliest tradition regarding election and free will. Some deal with the subject of perseverance and apostasy.

Real Faith
The Word of Faith movement (health, wealth and prosperity) would tell you that this man doesn’t have faith because he’s not healed. I suggest to you that he has more faith than I have ever dreamed of! Real faith is not getting everything you want, real faith is trusting God when you don’t see the answer! Real faith is trusting God when it hurts!
I can only imagine…
Why there is coming an Evangelical collapse in America
I think that part of the reason for this (the coming evangelical collapse in America) is illustrated perfectly in the video below (and yes, this does make my head explode).

What does one TRILLION dollars look like?
From: http://www.pagetutor.com/trillion/index.html
All this talk about "stimulus packages" and "bailouts"...
A billion dollars...
A hundred billion dollars...
Eight hundred billion dollars...
One TRILLION dollars...
What does that look like? I mean, these various numbers are tossed around like so many doggie treats, so I thought I'd take Google Sketchup out for a test drive and try to get a sense of what exactly a trillion dollars looks like.
We'll start with a $100 dollar bill. Currently the largest U.S. denomination in general circulation. Most everyone has seen them, slighty fewer have owned them. Guaranteed to make friends wherever they go.

A packet of one hundred $100 bills is less than 1/2" thick and contains $10,000. Fits in your pocket easily and is more than enough for week or two of shamefully decadent fun.

Believe it or not, this next little pile is $1 million dollars (100 packets of $10,000). You could stuff that into a grocery bag and walk around with it.

While a measly $1 million looked a little unimpressive, $100 million is a little more respectable. It fits neatly on a standard pallet...

And $1 BILLION dollars... now we're really getting somewhere...

Next we'll look at ONE TRILLION dollars. This is that number we've been hearing about so much. What is a trillion dollars? Well, it's a million million. It's a thousand billion. It's a one followed by 12 zeros.
You ready for this?
It's pretty surprising.
Go ahead...
Scroll down...
Ladies and gentlemen... I give you $1 trillion dollars...

(And notice those pallets are double stacked.)
So the next time you hear someone toss around the phrase "trillion dollars"... that's what they're talking about.
Back from Outreach & Bus Convention
I’m home from Outreach and Bus Convention and I’m so glad I went and I’m so thankful to be part of the movement from which the Outreach and Bus Convention is made up of. It was wonderful to spend time with people who are passionate about soul winning, but are not caught up in the whole Church Growth mentality! As illustrated by the motivational poster below! :-)

Today one of my heroes died…
I just received the news that Rev. Albert Barr passed away this morning. Bro. Barr was one of my favorite preachers and one more my heroes. He was an incredibly smart and educated preacher who had the ability to still communicate with those who weren’t quite as intelligent (people like me)! I’ll never forget hearing him speak when I was a young boy and him telling about dissecting a frog. Nor will I forget him coming to Penn View Bible Institute while I was in college and preaching for our revival. He stayed in the men's dorm and many of the nights we stayed up long after we were supposed to be in bed laughing at stories he told and enjoying a demonstration of a computer game he had designed.
He was a great example of a holiness man and I will miss him, however I am thankful that he is no longer suffering and I hope to someday meet him in Heaven!

Now this does make my head explode!
From LifeNews:
“The White House quietly announced on Friday that President Barack Obama is starting the process of overturning protections President Bush put in place to make sure medical staff and centers are not forced to do abortions. The move is the latest that will add to Obama's growing pro-abortion record.”

Today John Wesley died
On March 2, 1791 John Wesley died. As he lay dying, his friends gathered around him, Wesley grasped their hands and said repeatedly, "Farewell, farewell." At the end, summoning all his remaining strength, he cried out, "The best of all is, God is with us," lifted his arms and raised his feeble voice again, repeating the words, "The best of all is, God is with us."
He died with only a few miscellaneous coins and a couple of silver spoons. He had given away the rest. In one year he earned today's equivalent of $1.4 million, yet he lived on 2% of his income and gave 98% of it away. In fact, during his lifetime he earned the equivalent of $30 million. He practiced what he preached when he said, “Gain all you can; Save all you can [be frugal]; Give all you can.”
He died with only those few coins and a couple of silver spoons but what he left behind as the result of his life-work was a Methodist church of 135,000 members, and 541 itinerant preachers carrying forward the message of Full Salvation from sin.
His legacy lives on today.
